My co-worker get all up in my personal space. What should I do?
You have to tell them. Seriously, they are never going to just come to the realisation you don’t like it all by themselves.
Keep it calm, unemotional, and to the point.
A simple, ‘Sorry Jane, I feel we’re a little close’, and a step back, should work.
Then reinforce that, every time they do it. Often, they are so used to crowding people they need reminding.
If you’re seated, they are too close: ‘May I just have a little more space? Thank you’.
This has worked for me in the past. Anyone else got any suggestions / war stories?
